You Are Stronger Than You Think: 6 Beliefs of Confident Salespeople

“You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” – Winnie the Pooh

Written by A. A. Milne, the motivational quote has long inspired people to view themselves in a more positive light.

The message is impactful, as many of us underestimate how strong we really are. Each day your strength is on display, in ways you never would have thought.

you are stronger than you think

In fact, here are six ways you are stronger than you think:

1. You Set Your Own Limits

Our minds have great power. They get to choose what we are capable or not capable of doing.

Your only limits are those that you set yourself. When you believe you can accomplish something, you take an essential first step in achieving it.

With strength comes knowing how to stay out of your own way. You do not let self-defined constraints limit what you do. Nor do not let past experiences determine your present. You know that beliefs can change and that you choose how to perceive yourself.

2. You Tap Into Collective Power

The most successful people achieve greatness by collaborating with others. You understand that when those around you succeed, so do you. You want to see others grow and this motivates your actions.

As a salesperson, this manifests as authentically supporting your client’s goals. Not just viewing them as a potential sale but finding a way to provide real value. Showing empathy will allow you to have a more meaningful impact.

3. You Know That You Will Face Obstacles

Obstacles are a part of life. All of us will experience some form of unforeseen setback. Instead of taking these setbacks as a sign to give up, you can choose to see them as an opportunity to grow.

When a challenge arises, you step back and analyze the situation objectively, confident in your ability to solve whatever may come your way. In turn, your positive attitude will sustain your motivation to work towards your goals.

By accepting obstacles, you also acknowledge that failure is part of the process. When you make a mistake, you choose to learn from it rather than beat yourself up about it. This turns every failure into a tool to expand your wisdom.

4. You Know What Drives You

We each have the things that drive us. Unlocking these motivators is how we become all that we can be. When you know what motivates you, you gain clarity of purpose. This clarity of purpose allows you to distinguish between what you should be doing vs what is the expectations of others. You can then align your actions with your true goals and desires.

Consider what it is that motivates you the most. Both intrinsic and extrinsic causes are worth pursuing when balanced appropriately.

5. You Are Persistent

To be successful, you can’t depend on skill alone. You need a combination of ability and persistence. Many are capable of setting goals and plans of what they want to achieve. However, only a few succeed. Why? Because only some stick with their plan until it is accomplished.

When you set a goal and begin taking action, it is your persistence that helps you see it through. Persistantance keeps fear and doubt from impeding your progress. It empowers you to work relentlessly towards your objective and to stay resilient against unexpected stressors. Anyone can develop the mental toughness needed to stay strong in the face of adversity.

6. You Take Responsibility

In each moment we are given a choice. We can live intentionally as powerful creators of our own experience, or we can choose to be a victim of our circumstances. True strength means being responsible and owning all our behaviors and choices.

When you’re responsible, you don’t waste your energy blaming others for your problems. You understand that your own actions lead to everything you experience. Instead of being a victim, you choose to look at each situation honestly. You look to see how your decisions brought you where you are and what you can do to make it better.

You Are Stronger Than You Think

Don’t underestimate your strength. You are stronger than you think. The challenges we face teach us to be strong in ways we never imagined. Reflect on your skills and accomplishments to remind yourself how strong you are.
